Led by media artist Ian Winters, Summer, Winter Spring is an exploration of built choreographies and urban rhythms through time-lapse photography & video, incorporating found sound and performance. The project is based around a series of time-lapse videos filmed in Market Street, San Francisco. Summer, Winter, Spring is funded by grants from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation and the Zellerbach Family Foundation, among others.

The project premiered at the SF Arts Ed Gallery in the Minnesota St Project at 1275 Minnesota St in San Francisco. The installation ran from 13th – 31st January 2018, with live performances on Jan 26th and Jan 27th, 2018.

Ian Winters and I recently remounted an installation version of the piece at the Djerassi Resident Artist program, on 25th and 26th August 2018, in the Old Barn. Below are photos documenting the event.

Summer, Winter, Spring,  is a collaborative work with media artist Ian Winters, choreographers Mary Armentrout, Daiane Lopes da Silva and paige starling sorvillo. I worked closely with composer Heather Frasch on the project, in particular for the January 2017 work-in-progress performance. Her presence remains in the sound world of later versions, especially in the bicycle wheel sounds…

From our work in progress performance at the Milk Bar studio in Richmond California, January 2017, Heather Frasch center stage:
